Chapter 16 of Rabbi Shloma Majeski’s Likkutei Mekoros, Volume 2, responds to the questions: Where does the Rebbe explain why he refers to the Pervious Rebbe when he actually means himself? Where does the Rebbe state that he and the Previous Rebbe are one and the same?
The Talmud (Brachos 8a) relates that the Israeli Sage, Rabbi Yochanan, upon hearing that there were old people living in Babylonia said in amazement: “How could that be? It is written, ‘In order to prolong your days and the days of your children upon the land [that G-d has sworn to your ancestors to give them],’ however, not so outside of the Land of Israel.”
The Chassid R’ Tzvi Hirsh “Herschel” Rabinowitz of Chernowitz was a unique personality even within the Chassidic brotherhood. He was a clever, daring person with a heart of gold who put his life in danger in order to save more and more Jews. * He also cared for Reb Levi Yitzchok Schneersohn at the end of the latter’s life, with great devotion, and inherited his walking stick, which protected him from all the dangers that he faced. When it was lost, he said in anguish that his success was lost with it; a short while later he passed away. * A special Chassid, a loyal soldier in the Rebbe’s army to spread Judaism and the wellsprings. Elul 5775. My five-and-a-half-year-old decided that he must go to the Rebbe for Hakhel. Our financial situation at the time did not enable us to get up and go, and yet how could we not go in a Shnas Hakhel? We could not decide what to do.

This Shabbos Parshas Eikev is 20 Av, the Yahrtzait of the rav and mekubal Rabbi Levi Yitzchak Schneersohn, the father of our Rebbe. In his honor we will discuss the HaYom Yom that the Rebbe prepared for 20 Av 5703, one year before the passing of his father.
A non-Jew may not be a mohel (ritual circumciser); only someone who is obligated to perform the mitzvah of bris mila (ritual circumcision) may perform it on others. If there is no Jew available to perform the bris mila, then the bris must be postponed—even beyond the eighth day—until a Jewish mohel can be found.
