Sixty years ago, my grandfather (Rabbi Dov Yehuda Schochet) was in 770 during the month of Nissan to celebrate the Aufruf of his son. At the behest of some of the senior Chassidim, he requested of the Rebbe to hold a farbrengen on Shabbos after Davening.
We are now in the month of Nissan, the month in which we read the parsha of the N’siim. Every day, for the first 2 weeks of the month, we read about the Korbanos brought by one of the leaders of the tribes of B’nei Yisroel. This also occurs right before 11 Nissan, which this year will be the 117th birthday of our Rebbe, the leader of our generation. It is therefore very appropriate to discuss the topic of Jewish leadership.
If G-d had caused the Jewish people to remain exiled in Egypt a little while longer, they would have completed the ultimate purpose for which the world was created. Nevertheless, “Once the time of redemption had arrived, G-d did not delay even the blink of an eye
How can it be that no one opens his mouth in protest?! If the Jewish people would ask and plead, bang on the table and demand that Moshiach Tzidkeinu should come immediately, “now!” – Moshiach would be here already, arriving even on Shabbos!
The obvious question is as follows: In modern times, we all have access to cars and trains and other modes of modern transportation. Anyone living in Eretz Yisroel can come to Yerushalayim in only a matter of a few hours. If so, would this exclusion of “living too far” not apply in the times of Moshiach when all these modern conveniences will be available to us?
