We are currently in the special days of S’firas HaOmer, the counting of the Omer and are quickly approaching the holy Yom Tov of Lag B’Omer. We are not just counting the days that are passing; rather we are working to make every part of every day count.
Pesach Sheini teaches us to never despair; if there are areas of deficiency, we are always empowered with the capacity to rectify them.
This week we celebrate the special Yom Tov of Pesach Sheini. We are all familiar with the story of Pesach Sheini. The source for this mitzvah is in BaMidbar (9:1-14). The Yidden were about to celebrate Passover one year after leaving Egypt. The offering of the Korban Pesach was at the core of that celebration. However “certain men” were ritually impure from contact with a human body and were therefore ineligible to participate in the Korban Pesach. Faced with the conflict of the requirement to participate in the Korban Pesach and their ineligibility due to impurity, they approached Moses and Aaron and demanded, “Why should we be left out?” This resulted in the communication of the law of Pesach Sheni.
Pesach Sheini teaches us to never despair; if there are areas of deficiency, we are always empowered with the capacity to rectify them. * Everything in exile that appears to be slipping out of our grasp should be revealed to be attainable, rectifiable, and those things that have in fact been lost should be recovered and corrected.
The message the Rebbe taught in connection with Pesach Sheini is that nothing is a lost cause; you can always fix it. In life, we are faced with hardships and situations which seem hopeless, but we are told this is never the case.
